 Wolseley 1100 Mk1

The Wolseley 1100 retains the traditional styling, which seems to suite a car of this size very well. The Sidelight finishers and grille fit in very well together, and on this particular example look well placed with the Spruce Green paintwork.

Fitted with a modified sidelight unit which has more of dome on the lenses and three fastening screws instead of the normal two. It is also fitted with a finisher around the unit.

The grille features a light up badge which adds to the style of the grille. The badge lights up once the sidelights are switched on.

I'm sure I've seen those mouldings before? Yeah, I have. They are the same ones as fitted to the Riley Kestrel, and MG 1100 and 1300 models. Except....

... at the front there is attention to detail. The moulding doesn't just stop it in fact extends down to the edge of the wing. When viewed from the side it certainly "finishes" the car off.

As viewed from the side. The angled moulding finishes the line of the bodywork.

The Wolseley featured the wood veneered dashboard and leather seat squabs. The carpets were fitted with an extra foot rest, on the exhaust turret. The handbrake and gear lever were finished in chrome.

The door cards were two toned, and were trimmed as follows. The top part was a slightly lighter colour featuring a thing white line. The centre panel is a darker colour and trimmed using a normal cloth. The bottom part of the panel is trimmed with the same cloth as the top. The map pockets are metal and are trimmed using a plain cloth which is the same colour as the top and bottom parts of the panel.

The Mk1 tail lights and the mouldings look well placed together. The Mk1 Old English White wheels also fit in very well with the colour scheme.

Unusually the Wolseley didn't use number plate lamps mounted on the bumper in the boot handle, instead two very simple, yet tasteful lamps were used either side of the number plate. The Wolseley was also fitted with the single push button boot opener.

The badging on the Wolseley were plain simple and within keeping within the rest of the cars styling. The Wolseley badge is in keeping with the traditional design. The 1100 badge was used throughout the range.

Overall the Wolseley has very clean lines finished with side mouldings that emphasis the Pininfarina style.

Neil Castle's Wolseley named Winnie.
