The GT's front end styling was simple yet sporty looking. The mesh grille and GT badges, show that this is a performance car. Bumper Over-riders were available at extra cost, although I think they take away the sporty look.

The GT engine is the 1275cc Mini Cooper engine. This differed from other 1300 engines as it had the higher compression ratio, and greater power output. This engine was also fitted in 1300 MGs.

The Black strips on the GT break the bodywork up, and give that "Go faster" appearance to the car. Did BL know what they started? Most cars would later be fitted with plastic ones.

The GT badging on the front grille makes an impression, it also tells you that this was no ordinary 1300 model.

They even fitted GT badges to the quarter panels!

The most important feature on the GT was the black vinyl roof. This idea was copied from cars such as the Ford Cortina, and later on the Ford Escort. Not such a good sign if its bubbled! But when given a nice coat of boot polish, makes all the difference to the look.

The worst thing about the 1300 GT was the choice of sticky out wheel trims. Frequently these turned up, with marks all over them, as they have been rubbed down a causeway.

The GT was given a black version of the MG wood dash. This however seems to work well with the chrome, and gives the car a modern look. The three spoke steering wheel was also carried across from the MG.

The dashboard was also fitted with the RPM counter, and oil pressure gauge. This Mk2 example is also fitted with two indicator lamps, later this was changed and only one was fitted.

The only difference's at the rear are, there is no way to tell if the car is an Austin or Morris. All GT's were fitted with the 1300 GT badge. Finally the GT was also fitted with the twin silencer exhaust system, so the tail pipe comes out on the right hand side.
