Below is a fleet of cars that were sold
on the American market. Some were exports of UK versions,
however some built specifically for America. |

MG 1100 - Sports sedan |
 |
|
The MG
1100 was available in the US with two
and four door bodywork. Two door
bodywork wouldn't be seen in the UK
until 1968 when Mk2 models were
launched.
It seems strange that the car used in
the press photo was UK registered. I
would have thought they'd have blanked
it out for publicity? |

MG Princess |
 |
|
For a
time the Vanden Plas was produced for
the American markets. However it was
named the MG Princess. Sources suggest
that the centre bar shown in the is
picture was not used on production
versions.
The Vanden Plas grille lends itself to
having the thicker centre bar, maybe it
should have been adopted for Mk2
versions? |

Austin 1100 |
 |
|
From
this angle you can't really tell if it's
an Austin or a Morris but from the
summer of 1967 to March 1968 the Austin
1100 was available for export to
America.
Surely it would have made more sense to
sell the remaining stock piles of all
Mk1 vehicles? |

Austin America |
 |
|
BMC
were driven by dealers to produce a car
that specifically met the needs of the
American public. So in 1968 they came up
with the Austin America.
Although built for America, did you know
it was also sold in Canada and
Switzerland? |
