ADO22 was being developed by British
Leyland as a replacement for the ADO16 we are all familiar
with.
The bodywork was overhauled at the front making the car
slightly longer at the front. The same bonnet was used, but
the wings and front panel were squared off. The bumper is
mounted slightly higher up.
The cabin used the same style as before, and the doors had
been lifted from the original design. A new revised interior
would be fitted including revised safety features.
ADO22 would pick up ideas that would then later be used on
the Austin Apache. The rear end was extended to give the car
more luggage space. Alex Moulton had been appointed to
design a revised suspension.
However, Leyland cancelled the facelift in favour of the
Allegro. |
